Try a half marathon first. I trained for a year for a half marathon and still, that last mile was a KILLER. I cannot even imagine doubling that distance!
Considering what she’s trying to do is run 26.2 miles, a distance which was chosen because the first person to run it DIED AT THE END, yes, she’s nuts.
Just remember: Marathons kill. Starting with legendary runner Pheidippides in 490 B.C. Try something healthier, like interval training (walking and running mixed together.) And for heaven’s sake, go for shorter, healthier distances.
I work for the Army Ten-Miler every October, and I’ve seen that the front runners finish in about 45 minutes. The rest of the field takes about 3 hours, and that’s not counting the stragglers they have to go along the course and pick up in a bus.

I applaud Betty. But staying in shape is not one-time training for a marathon, it is an every day effort. So much obesity in this country.

I love 5k’s. I love walking them with our dogs. I couldn’t run them even if my life depended on it.
