I thought this was only for medically relevant information, besides if I read the conversation correctly she basically said “go get my daughter” so telling the authorities would be perfectly in line with her request.

Pretty sure that’s still a violation, even if Joe guesses it. Marcy is sharing information she isn’t allowed to share.

On the “release information to” I always write ANYONE AND EVERYONE. You’ve already figured out I don’t have enough sense to feel proper shame.

Believe me, HIPAA or no, a good story is a good story, including a few I’ve told on myself. “The names have been changed to protect the innocent.”
