Wait, an opt out? We never had an opt out. We had to buy the ugly ornaments, stale popcorn, cookie dough, cards, etc. Schools could make a pile if they told parents at the beginning of the year that a donation of $100 would exempt them from having to bother with this crud for the whole year. Grade school protection racket.
I must admit, the best gift wrap I ever had was bought from a coworker whose kid was selling it for her school. A really long roll that lasted for several years.
Yesterday on FB, Greg said the comments went political … today his STRIP went political! LOLHow did you for see that Greg? Can you tell me this Friday’s winning lottery numbers?
Exactly what I do. Most of the fundraiser money goes to the company that sells this crap, not to the school. The school profits more from my $5 donation than from buying $25 of stuff.
My kid’s school makes us sell raffle tickets, so I just give them $50 for the booklet and don’t sell them. But I agree, a formal opt out option saves everyone time!
