No, this was not the FBI’s fault. Ask Congress, who funds the FBI and sets the limit on resources for the FBI, whose fault it is. If I give you a tea cup, and tell you to empty the Atlantic Ocean, is it YOUR fault, or MINE when you fail?

If the FBI had gone to the shooter’s house and confiscated his guns all the gun nuts would be beside themselves with criticism. The FBI can’t win no matter what they do with these people.

I’m with Lester on this one; I, too, want to live in a country when the police can lock you up forever on the suspicion that you might one day commit a crime. Provided they are MY police, that is.

I think lester is on to something here – let us start rounding up every gun owner who the FBI has received a tip about. It would keep us a lot safer than kicking out grandmothers and doctors. Good idea Mike, let’s start rounding up anyone who has had a tip sent in to the FBI – then we won’t have a next school shooting. Finally a bi-partisan solution!

Blame the FBI, NOT the shooter! (Please repeat 500 times).

SFCGATOR, can’t take guns away under Baker Act unless convicted of a felony. Even after domestic calls, you cannot automatically incarcerate someone. There is a long, complicated, difficult process. I can imagine the outcry from the NRA and gun zealots if the FBI started taking guns from people who have had the police called for domestic or other violence. Look at Trump preventing the implementation of the SSI mental health block on guns.

Notify the local police, who have already been there 39 times? Why didn’t the police notify the FBI? They didn’t think it was urgent?

Confiscate his weapon(s) within 24 hrs? Didn’t Republicans just pass federal legislation making that more difficult?

Here’s another thing : without a gun that could expel magazines and magazines of ammunition the shooter would not have been able to kill so many people. Are these high capacity weapons needed for hunting ?

Oh jeez, SFCGATOR. maybe if you didn’t have your head where you hide your Saturday Night Special it would occur to you that, if the 2nd Amendment was meant to make sure US Citizens are armed for National Defense, as you say, then the “Regulated Militia” part (maybe you didn’t know that part was there) really is the crux of the Amendment, that the 2nd Amendment was never intended for individual firearm ownership and you and Justice Scalia have been wrong all along. YA THINK ?

Also, here’s another thought : you wouldn’t have cause to blame Cruz’s family, friends, schoolmates, School teachers and administrators, Florida PD and Sheriff if the Republicans hadn’t weakened gun control laws regulating who can get guns and what types of guns they can get. Maybe Cruz would never have had a gun in the first place and, if the assault weapon ban hadn’t been eliminated by the Republicans, maybe the shooter wouldn’t have killed so many people.

The 2nd amendment is there to protect us from an over-reaching government; it guarantees private ownership of firearms. If it wasn’t there, we’d probably be like the old Soviet Union by now.
