This is reminiscent of the ending of Lord of the Flies at which time you realize that they are little boys, not grown men. The Buckaroo is just a little kitty trying to make his way in the world. Just crying out for a little affection and a little recognition with a little birthday present. “Warm Kitty, Soft Kitty, little ball of fur…”. And if that doesn’t grab ya, I’ll whack ya with Smacky!
