    The sprouts shouldn’t be undercooked.

Barely relevant: I learned last night that raw lima beans are poisonous, containing a protein, linamarin, that decompses into hydrogen cyanide when we eat it. The US bans the most toxic varieties and all are “defused” by cooking for at least ten minutes.

Doesn’t work with my pet, she won’t eat brussels sprouts either, and I had a dog who wouldn’t eat beets. I watched him pick the beets out of his dish and lay them beside it.

My ex had a dog that loved Brussels sprouts and would steal them from the table if given half a chance.

Unfortunately the sprouts, being a member of the cabbage family, had the same side effect on the pup’s digestion that cabbages have on humans, and a couple hours later there would be a blast of methane large enough to threaten damaging the ozone layer

Back when I was a kid in the 50s my mother made me eat BIG GREEN BOOGERS. She called them steamed Brussels sprouts, but I knew better.

    I never forgave her.
