The girls class isn’t shop, it’s home economics. Girls should be allowed to take real shop class and boys should be included in home economics. Both are skills everyone should learn.
I would have been in trouble in either shop class. I can’t draw a straight line with a ruler and when building an extension on a barn on our farm , despite using a level every step of the way, measuring everything 4 times I still managed to have one end of the wall 4 inches higher than the other end. As for the girls class I never had any money so the concept of shopping for anything beyond food, where I buy almost exclusively last day of sale meat and produce, and scratch and dent tins or discounted clothing that the thrift shops are trying to unload is alien to me.
