Poor Ogwa, a modern Icarus indeed. He just had a dream to fly; he goes against his tribe, doesn’t harm the Storbses, with minimal training does a pretty good job of getting the plane into level flight with a 220# ape swinging like a pendulum off one side. And he gets the death penalty.

I think that back when this was originally written, unfortunately, jungle cats and “natives” had about the same classification. All expendable.
