Just wondering, what is “I’se” a contraction of?

Waiting Man: I would think it means ”I is”.

A grammatically incorrect contraction. I’m thinking this expression goes back to 1950’s, 1960’s era film and TV depictions of the Antebellum South.

Having grown up on Pogo, The Beverly Hillbillies, The Andy Griffith Show and Gasoline Alley, I surely do like to hear me some back-woods vernacular. For me, the dialog is the charm in this sequence.

wow…am I missing something on here? MJ: Where is there a comment about Lou Gerhig? Or did you mean Lou Gehrig? When all I see is that Dirty Dragon commented on how I’se is grammatically incorrect that a lot of people use. Maybe I just came on here too late, and some comments was deleted, its just I don’t see anything related to Lou Gehrig.
