    It’s usually a tradition in my family to make a Christmas list on the day after (US) Thanksgiving.

    It should be earlier. You want the list in your mother’s hand BEFORE Black Friday, so she can plan her 12 AM shopping.

    My Mom would ask us (as adults) what we wanted for Christmas around April, and we’d tell her we had to think about it. In August we’d say we thought of some things we’d like, but she’d say too late, she had finished her shopping.
