I think The Orville has potential, but it is getting very low ratings and may soon fade into obscurity. Discovery is a fine show, but it takes itself a little too seriously and gets bogged down with the Trek back stories. (And, why do the Klingons have to speak in their jarring language, but the Vulcans are speaking english?)

I’ll confess, I like The Orville better than Star Trek Discovery, though I do find the humor on the Orville forced at times.

The Orville doesn’t entertain me, Star Trek Discovery does.

For me The Orville is almost satire on Star Trek kind of like Space Balls and while it is funny at times I am not detecting any kind of consistent story line. So I find Discovery to be more entertaining and probably better than Enterprise so far. I am able to get my Star Trek itch scratched by Discovery but no so much by Orville.

Most of the people I’ve talked with on the subject seem to agree with this strip, in that Orville is more Star Trek than the current Star Trek. If Discovery had made any attempt at all to match continuity with the original series I might have felt differently, but as it is we are being served a steaming bowl of BS and told to enjoy our “fresh chocolate pudding.”
