    In my country, summer camps aren’t even a thing. I spent my childhood summer vacation playing outside or reading. Well, okay, and watching cartoons.

    Ed doesn’t seem to have as much respect for the grandparents as he does for the main characters… The grandfather looks like he’s always wearing a headset and the grandmother looks like she’s channeling Chico Marx

    Yes, letting the kid daydream, read, sleep, watch tv, watch the clouds, find things to do when he’s bored—what a horrible thing to do. I never understood why parents felt compelled to take away the only extended free time a person will ever have in their lives, scheduling every second instead. I grew up on a farm and had chores to do, but I miss those long, lazy summers where I read like crazy.
