Republicans always see a need for welfare, public departments and government emergencies when it affects them. You would think it would give them some insight and compassion for others, but it doesn’t. He’ll go back to congress and cut budgets so it will be even harder to get help for the next (ever increasing) weather event.
It has always been that way. The ones who yell “hell no” the loudest when asked for help. Are the first to come crying for help when they hurt. And I’ve always found it to be ironic that they cry the loudest and ask for the most. And none of us would begrudge them help because the people that they’re asking help for are people, victims of terrible tragedies. And because no one will deny them funds for their people they will go to their constituents and say hey look how great we’re doing in our job!!! ……. And get elected the next time. Never fails. And of course they are the ones Who will cut budgets for Aide and budgets for programs to help the needy to show how good they are at governing…… It never fails.
There is a God And he punished Texas, for its callous response to hurricane Sandy victims. You have the world and yet you have not charity you have nothing. I just hope they have worked their lesson
Neither Texas senator voted to give aid to Sandy victims. They both, along with many other republicans, objected to giving aid to “some” of the recipients – not ALL, just SOME! Which leads me to this ‘suggestion’ – some ‘responsible’ party from Texas (assuming they can be found) should present Congress with an itemized list of the aid recipients. Congressional members can go through the list and “line-item veto” any they object to and those that get, oh, say, 60% approval will get some money while the rest get ‘screwed’. That would be fairer than what the republicans did to the Sandy victims and we wouldn’t even call for “offsets”, either. In other words, we extend a helping hand without actually asking, “What’s it worth to ya?” while still being smug assh*les! A win-win for our side while still stooping to republican levels!
Not a single Texas Republican voted to help the victims of Sandy, with one exception: John Culberson of Houston. Maybe Texans will start voting for people who actually want to govern.
I don’t mind helping people, but I don’t want to help him and his politician cronies. Unfortunately, Cruz and his buddies will get more than anyone else.
I bet Cruz is happy that Trump repealed Obama’s order regarding federal money for construction on flood plains, because otherwise people in south Texas would need to either put everything on stilts, or build somewhere else. Like Oklahoma.

The usual republican arrogant hypocrite. Government socialism for Texas until they get strong enough to talk about leaving the union again.
