The joke was you called a store and asked it they had Prince Albert in a can and if they said yes, you were supposed to reply, would you please let him out!
For those who wondered, in replies to some of the above: Marv Albert was a sports broadcaster, especially known for doing play-by-play telecasts of basketball.
