I believe that without a mutually agreeable budget plan, essentially an algorithm to dynamically restrain and balance the federal budget, the federal budget is out of control. The problem IS the opposing party system with its inherent inability to to make the necessary compromises. Without factoring in world events (wars, recessions, inflation, automation, globalization, etc) the relationship between the economy and a president or Congress and the economy is purely coincidental.
It would be better if we had less lawyers, used car salesmen, and talk radio hosts and more economists and analysts as representatives. Oddly the budget excess is in not the number of federal employees or their salaries but givebacks to the states, fixing social security revenue statically instead of adjusting to match GDP, and other spending that simply does not add value to the economy.
Any fiscal restraint by this White House and the Republican congress can be seen inside the republicans head. Because outside of a Republican’s head, they have never had any fiscal restraint. The Democrats have shown fiscal restraint, as well as compassion and logic. The Current White House has none of these.
