Dusty: Hello? Person: Charlie? Dusty: Um...no. Person: This isn't Charlie? Dusty: No. It's Dusty. Person: Huh...where's Charlie? Dusty: I have no idea. This is Dusty. Person: Then why are you answering Charlie's phone? Dusty: I'm not! This is my phone. You must have the wrong number, ma'am. Person: You're sure? Dusty: What...that I'm not Charlie? Person: Yeah. You're positive? Dusty: Yes. I'm positive I'm not Charlie. Person: Can you pretend you are? Dusty: What? Person: For me? Please? Dusty: Well, I...okay. Fine..."Yo! This is Charlie!" Person: Charlie doesn't talk like that. Dusty: Ma'am! You have worked my last nerve! Good day! Wink: Who was that? Dusty: Some wacko calling for "Charlie." I got a new number and I keep getting weird calls. Hello, you nutjob! This still isn't Charlie! Person: But I need Charlie! Dusty: Fine! Ya got me! I'm Charlie! I've been Charlie all along! Person: Seriously? Dusty: Yes. Seriously this is Charlie. Person: Good. That other guy was a jerk. Dusty: Yeah. I've been hearing that a lot.

Years ago, 35 years maybe, I had a weird telephone conversation just like this comic strip, lol.

It seems that people are no longer proper phone etiquette. Most wrong numbers just hang up.

Years ago before cell phones, I got a call asking for “Bill” (wrong number). I said, “You have the wrong number”. She said, “I do not!” Click.

I had a random number from a city I used to live in call me multiple times. I finally answered and asked for Mario. I pretty much had the same argument that Dusty just had. I hung up though. I felt no more need to try and convince her.

When I got my first cell phone I started getting text messages from someone (I don’t text) some of the text messages were kind of personal (not racy, just personal) I kept trying to call them but they never answered when I called and they seemed to ignore the messages I left on their voicemail. One morning I was getting ready for work when they sent me a text so I tried calling them right back and for once she actually answered the call and when I told her she’d been texting the wrong number for months she was shocked, but did admit that explained why her friend never responded to her texts. That was the last text I ever got from her.
