It’s refreshing to see that not all strips try to be funny. Rather than an attempt at humor, we gain insight into why Agnes has a hard time making, and keeping friends. We expect funny, but we get pity instead.

JEFF you are correct, but her remark about “shameless plugging” is absolutely on target.

It’s hard to pull off ‘pretty’ while whistling and walking like a duck.

I never miss the Agnes strip. I doubt Mr Cochran intends it to be a LOL hilarious comic strip. But, he does a great job showing us situations that we can relate to with a warming smile each day. Agnes is interesting and Trout is cool. Love ’em both.

I suspect the readers of Agnes were all, in some way, like Agnes or Trout. The cute blond (when I was a teenager there was a law that they HAD to be blond) girls with all the “right looks” (just check out any old magazine or album cover) wouldn’t find Agnes and Trout so endearing and, in their own way, sweet. They wouldn’t “get it”’. Especially when they are called into their bosses office (Agnes or Trout)!
