They’re still recovering from their New Year’s hangovers. So is Senator Belfry.

Worked at a restaurant where the owner dumped grease in 55 gallon drums in back and kept geese in the back woods. I saw a rat the size of a cat once, it was NOT a possum, I know the difference. The geese gave everyone some kind of food poisoning somehow. People wound up in the hospital. The boss was in ICU.

Anybody who’s lived in South Florida knows, that Florida doesn’t have cockroaches, they have " palmetto bugs" !

    .

A Palmetto Bug is a big Cucaracha with a fancy name !

A friend’s mom worked as a baker for a private catering place, she worked throughout the NYC area and Long Island. She always warned that it was the really expensive and fancy places that had the worst hygiene and that roaches were everywhere.

The FDA allows up to 30 insect fragments per 100 grams in peanut butter. They’re at lunch right now.

I worked at a restaurant when I was in High School where the owner (on principle) refused to pay off the health inspector and felt it was better as well as cheaper in the long run to clean the kitchen twice a day as well as wash the floor three times a day. Never had roaches or vermin and the food was good and the customers were plentiful!

Ever see wheat coming out of a combine? Bugs don’t have enough sense to get out of the way! Raw wheat is loaded with grasshopper and other mangled insects. Millers clean the wheat up as much as possible, before grinding into flour, but it’s impossible to get rid of ALL of the contaminants.

Scene at a local orchard a few years back: Lady ordered a gallon or so of cider and commented “Do you still use the wormy apples to make cider?” “Oh no! With the sprays we use now, there are no wormy apples. I have to send the kids out to catch grasshoppers for flavor!”

Whats worse than biting into an apple and see a worm crawl out?
