They strung a wire across the road to throw the man riding it. See him on the ground at far right. Now they need everyone to carry him away as a food source.

Thank goodness for today’s comments. At first I thought it was a mushroom until I read katzenbooks comment. Then I saw the trip wire thanks to calsafe……

    Those devious ants!

No, there won’t be any horrible ant vivisection of a human body. He landed on a grassy hill. When he gets his head together there will be an epic stomping. Prepare for much screaming and ant gore to commence…

I was sure that was a mushroom… even after the explanation, I had a very hard time realizing the gag…

except for relatively small morsels, ants disassemble their meals. They intend to get him a piece at a time.

    .

Sometimes ants go into one of my chestnuts through a very small hole they make, then they empty the shell about a millimeter bit at a time.

I looked at those two white things sticking up at the left and wondered if they were heads of ants or some kind of bugs. That one ant seems to be talking to them. Behind them is the hole where the queen lives.

I could see there had been a wreck. The ants were all gathered around the wheel, and it looked like they had attached ropes to it, but needed more help to move it. I just couldn’t figure out why the ants wanted the wheel.

All this confusion would have been prevented if the artist had colored the right peg gray instead of green.

NOW I see it! It is the wheel on which he was riding. From this angle, all I could see was a giant SCREW – see the threads on the shaft?
