“If one has no affection for a person or a system, one should feel free to give the fullest expression to his disaffection so long as he does not contemplate, promote, or incite violence.”

    Gandhi

“The unshakable belief that the use of force is an evil in itself, that therefore it must be avoided by those who are striving for supreme justice … a powerful human following can be assembled, not only through the cunning game of the usual political maneuvers and trickeries, but through the cogent example of morally superior conduct of life. This level we must, with all our forces, attempt to reach.

We must learn the difficult lesson that an endurable future of humanity will be possible only if, also in international relations, decisions are based on law and justice and not on self-righteous power, as they have been up to now.”

    Albert Einstein

Plenty of us voted for her, not just against trump. Once votes are counted a couple million more than trump.

So “hair furor” is going to “drain the swamp of Washington”? Sure…take a look at his short list for Cabinet positions! Good grief!

Even though “we’re still here,” there don’t seem to be nearly enough of us and, regardless of our numbers, we’re so filled with shame and trepidation for our country that we’re immobilized. Most presidents name their prospective administration, e.g., “The New Deal,” etc. Our upcoming presidential administration will be the Neo-Dark Ages.

The minority elected president is ready to make America great again. But we are still here, we have been making America great for the last 8 years, thanks for finally joining us. Are you trying to help now because you can work with a white man? We will continue to work to make America great, but we will not do it through bigoted means.

The scary part of Trump was with his ultimate ignorance of the Constitution and everything having to do with our government, who would he select/ appoint to support his views, and would he have a right-wing House and Senate.

His suggested cabinet and appointees are among the worst of history’s true deplorables, and he’s got the bottom of the barrel in the House, and only slightly less bad in the Senate.

We may still be here, but in the words of simple truth, for EVERY American who believes in true values of what made America great, “we’re screwed” will suffice.

David Horsey has an excellent article along the line of the comic.

    .

Does your hatred of government mean you voted for more pollution? With your vote, were you demanding that big banks be set free to run the economy into the ground? Were you eager for less consumer protection? Did you insist that more of the tax burden be put on average Americans and less of it on the super-rich? I hope those are the things you wanted because that is what you will get from a Republican Congress and a Republican president.

    .

Most of the people who vote for the “less taxes for the rich” are misled because of their blind ignorance. Do they really believe that those people are investing in capital industry that will create American employment? Do they know how much money has been accrued by the wealthy by investing in financial instruments, which create only a few jobs for lawyers, accountants and the odd computer geek? You think those people are investing in actual bricks and mortar industry? Really? And where do you find evidence for that? The “Rust Belt?” If they are investing, it is overseas, or in robotics so that they don’t have do deal with whiny Americans who cost a lot.

    .

If, ultimately, the real reason you voted for Trump was because he promised to start shutting doors that have been opened for people who do not fit a narrow definition of American, you should understand you are in for a fight. It’s now my turn to say it: I want my country back.

    .

    Right on David.

I have always been more interested in policy than in personality. No matter who is in office, there are a few things we really need to pay attention to. Here are a few, in no particular order. First on the list is climate change. Is Trump willing to deal with climate change? Second is a good national health insurance program. Is Trump willing to institute that? Third is mass incarceration. Is Trump willing to deal with that? Fourth is income disparity. Is Trump willing to deal with that? What are his plans? I don’t think we know. He has already started to change his positions, so it’s hard to know. His cabinet appointments will tell us something. My personal bet is that he will not have a coherent policy on some of the most important issues we face. Four years from now these problems will not be solved, in fact they may be worse than they are today. But we will see.

It will be amusing if millions of people crash the inauguration to shut it down.
