Social Security needed plenty of revisions – it wasn’t perfect to start. This is true with most large programs of any type. -- Reagan railed against Social Security in a recording he made in 1961; the recording was to encourage people to stop universal healthcare that was being implemented in other developed countries. This was while he was just an actor, the ones that Repubs say should stay out of politics.
Yes, because after decades of health care costs remaining stagnant…no, wait, the cost of health care was skyrocketing every year for decades. And ACA hasn’t completely fixed that, while covering millions of previously uninsured, within a couple years. Shock! It needs time.
Gee, isn’t it too bad that everything, everything, that the President has suggested to fix the situation has been voted down by Republicans. Then Breen wouldn’t have had to waste all the ink, and the little imagination that went into this toon.
Before the ACA, my premiums increased an average of 15% annually. After, 1-3% with same coverage. A 22% increase with improved coverage isn’t a bad deal. We still need cost control of pharmaceuticals (banned by Republicans) and Single Payer.
Not to worry. Next year, Republicans will dedicate at least ten of their 60 days (or however many it is) when Congress is in session to their “replacement” for Obamacare.
.
We know that it will erase all them lines around states
.
as if insurance companies are prevented from insuring people in ANY state now.
.
And beyond that, we know that it will be SOMETHING TERRIFIC!
This cartoon is missing the top half… it was cropped so as not to show the hand of the do-nothing Republican congress that dropped the Obamacare pumpkin. The ACA is still better than what we had before it.
Price increases have nothing to do with Obama. It’s all of the For Profit Insurance companies. And not all of them either. For the second year in a row my premiums have not increased, and the year before that they only went up one dollar.
You forgot to draw the big Republican vine attached to that Pumpkin Squash funny make-em up. Remember the good-old-days when the guy under that pumpkin squash was also not covered with health insurance? Remember when the costs were going up four-times as fast before Obamacare? It is easy to bash the ACA, but I haven’t heard many good alternatives (single-payer, which is a non-starter for cons and libertarian, I never get sick so why should I care)
