How many years had this going on with little or no press coverage? Did newspaper people years ago see things and fail to report them adequately, or not at all, to avoid offending police departments? Are there retirees from those years who were or are willing to say?

Breathing while Black is an executable offense. Trump supporters are upset by cops shooting unarmed blacks. They want to get in on the action to like Zimmerman.

@HabaneroBuck Just using the total numbers of whites vs blacks killed by the police to dismiss the rational concerns of over disproportionate police shootings of blacks is akin to dismissing the Holocaust by stating that the Nazis killed more Soviet soldiers than Jews. The observation that there are “more officer-involved shootings with whites than blacks” misses the point. The white population is much larger than the black population in the U.S. According to statistics gathered by the Washington Post, black Americans are 2.5 times more likely to be killed by the police than white Americans as a proportion of the population. (https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/post-nation/wp/2016/07/11/arent-more-white-people-than-black-people-killed-by-police-yes-but-no/) According to a study by the University of Louisville and the University of South Carolina, an unarmed black American was 7 times more likely to be killed than an unarmed white American. (https://www.washingtonpost.com/national/study-finds-police-fatally-shoot-unarmed-black-men-at-disproportionate-rates/2016/04/06/e494563e-fa74-11e5-80e4-c381214de1a3_story.html)

Most human silhouette targets I’ve seen are green, but they come in a number of colors, including white..Most of the more realistic targets are white..There are many more whites killed by police than blacks even though crime stats show a higher black crime rate.

magicwalnutYes, editorial cartoon is one of the Pulitzer categories. Along with other categories such as written editorials, investigative reporting, drama, music, fiction, biography, etc..jeffrey cartwrightYeah, back in my day, we were at least honest enough to call it lynching.

Target practice for those unarmed black men who make the cops so afraid.“The only thing that was significant in predicting whether someone shot and killed by police was unarmed was whether or not they were black. Crime variables did not matter in terms of predicting whether the person killed was unarmed. This just bolsters our confidence that there is some sort of implicit bias going on. Officers are perceiving a greater threat when encountered by unarmed black citizens.” – Justin Nix, a criminal-justice researcher at the University of Louisville. An unarmed black man can go from being pulled over to shot dead in less than six minutes, and no one has to explain what happened. There are no consequences, and plenty will step up and defend the police just because they are police and the dead man is a black man.

There’s also those targets at shooting galleries made to look like President Obama.

Overlooked is the number of white’s shooting whites. In my area, that’s pretty much the rule, and in the last couple weeks in my region of several small population counties, there have been over a dozen shootings, and every one was a white shooting a white person. At least I guess it’s locals shooting locals, not imported.

Baslim, just your average “domestic” cases, often with the mix of alcohol and gun oil being a bad combination. One was a gal shooting her son-in-law in the gut with a shotgun because they were having an argument, another two drunks fighting outside a bar. Ah, that old “let’s go outside and settle this.”, but the massive numbers of guns out there has escalated the outcome from the old fashioned “fisticuffs”. Those “home of the brave” folks who now carry to defend themselves from say, church mice, flying squiirel, or enraged Chiuahuas are a real problem.

We’ve become a nation of cowards when able-bodied men feel they need an assault rifle to go to Walmart. I’m 78 with bad knees, and I go there unarmed.
