What Trump does WILL blow up in our faces. WILL. He’s already got untoward ties to Russia (including dependencies on Russian banks), he praises strongmen and dictators, he doesn’t know squat about geopolitics, and he says anything that pops into his head, even if it alienates an ally. In what way would this NOT blow up in our faces, let alone not stop terrorists?

The surgical approach is far better of course. Just as I don’t like drones without on the ground intelligence to confirm targets, it’s far more selective than “shock and awe”. The latest glitch on hitting the Syrian troops was apparently an aircraft strike, with poor field surveillance. It ainn’t “the fog of war” it’s a dumb error, if it actually WAS an error!
BTW; snipers are reviled, but they’re still a much better solution than a B-52 strike, and drones are kinda’ in between.
As ISIL “fighters” number about the same as the NYPD, it’’s also remarkable they hold the territory they do, but then the NVA and Charlie had the same thing going in ‘Nam, it’s the on the ground intimidation of the populace that does it for their low actual numbers. Instilling fear doesn’t take a lot of folks, just see what ONE guy with bombs brought nation wide with a couple placements in NY and New Jersey.
