I look forward to the day when humans aren’t allowed to drive cars. It’s not so much the actual driving that’s difficult, it’s dealing with the vicious idiots tailgating, speeding, cutting you off, running red lights, cutting across four lanes of traffic without ever looking, driving a foot over the center line, etc. And lately, it seems that people are coming up with new, even crazier behavior.
“Narrowminded”; in the mid 1960’s I did a program calling for southern Califronia to impliment mass transit improvements, using the existing rights of way the old “red car” system already had, instead of building more freeways for “mass transit”. With the worst land use planning in the history of the US, Los Angeles instead turned the land over to wasted space for inefficient auto “mobility”. My program got Chrysler and Standard Oil of California to pony up over a million dollars (this was in ‘62!) to convince folks rapid transit was a violation of their rights to sit in traffic jams for hours, and pollute the environment with wasted fossil fuels. They’re still winning (at least the replacement merged “energy” companies are!)
Tom Toles is always going off on DC’s Metro system. However, my wife and I were there on vacation for a week at the beginning of September and found the trains to be prompt, efficient, very clean, and quite affordable. OTOH, we spent about 40 minutes on an on-ramp to I-395. The fundamental rule of analysis is “Always ask ‘compared to what?’.”.

The Boston MBTA could use one too.

And they do it with their smart phone in hand so they can text someone about how bad the other drivers are.

Yes and would not change anything I said in reply. We have cabs and some places jitneys too. Still too costly.

“I look forward to the day when there is no public transit system.”
