Phil: Can I take you out to dinner this week?
Val: OUT?
Phil: I haven't had you to myself for a while.
Val: Well, I'll ask my mom...
Phil: Whoa. THAT takes me back.
Val: ...if she'll be home to babysit!
*Fairportfan2 * I remember asking that specific question about Phil always in uniform. Cause mostly it’s rare I see him on SS without his uniform on. I looked at Sunday’s strip and he looked nice dressed causual. Also I wonder if his patrol takes him close to Val where he can chat with her. Are patrol officers assigned beats unless there is all points out where extra officers are needed?
That is so cute Val needs to ask mom to babysit to young girls who probably in long run don’t need that done. Or maybe yes so school work can get done.
Kab - I don’t know about the town that Stone Soup is set in, but I know in Wichita, that each officer is assigned to a certain area (beat). One of my friends was on the WPD, and although he worked out of the same police substation that covered my mom’s neighborhood, he told me it wasn’t part of his beat. (He told me what area he was assigned to instead.)

LOL! Just don’t sit in the driveway and run your siren until she comes out. ;-)
