I can see a child thinking just that way.

They don’t look like the same color to me. Does the colorist even look at the dialogue?

My youngest daughter did exactly this once, though her reason was she’d never seen a napkin before and didn’t know what to do with it.

Now her dress exactly matches her dinner.

I never saw cloth napkins as a kid except at fancy holiday meals at Grandma’s, and then I got paper towels because I was I kid. Also, my stepmother ALWAYS had cloth napkins out, AND a thing of napkins on the table. Guess which was used by all, and which was just for show?:-P

I’m going to a restaurant today that I frequent. I wear cargo pants and bring paper towels as they have nice cloth napkins and I hate getting them too dirty.

We always used cloth, no fade, no iron, brown. I stuck them in the washer after dinner and they ran with the next load, no matter what color. They stay tucked into a collar, spread on a lap, spread on a chair, and are much more absorbent of messes.

Use bandanas because they are pretty, but kids won’t think of them as being too fancy. Also, incredibly cheap.

I hope she didn’t put the fancy guest towels out in the powder room.

Lynn’s Notes:I still buy nice napkins for my table and folks still refuse to use them…but I do.

Maybe serving spaghetti with brand new napkins wasn’t the best idea?

OMG, my late mother. She’d have killed me knowing how many of her “good” tablecloths (that she never used and was “saving”) I gave away to friends because the number of them was ridiculous.

my kids were raised to use a nakin whether it was paper or cloth. i sewed so i made a lot of my own napkins and table cloths

Gotta love a child that can appreciate art.

Elizabeth forgot her manners in the fifth panel. Everyone else in the family is using utensils and she is using her hands. Slurping is always rude. The root of the problem is not napkin use; it is lack of etiquette.
