That police department is underfunded, else they wouldn’t be using a megaphone; they’d be using an LRAD. (/s)

Well, it certainly couldn’t be because the governor of Florida refused funding to fight Zika unless it was accompanied by a load of concessions to the big-mouth Right. He’s making up for lost time now, though, demanding that we bail his crooked ass out yet again (and no doubt, in some way that will allow him to profit from the misery of others).

In “War of the World’s”, Wells took down the Martians with a simple virus. Today, with climate change over the past decades, air travel, anti-vaccination, and overuse of antibiotics, we’ve done more than enough to bring back diseases we thought were gone, same for pests attacking our plants.

Documentation of immigrants and travelers also makes little difference, as Zika is being carried by totally “legitimate” citizens and travelers.

Scarier is the insanity of Donald J.Trump, and those supporting his insanity. It’s WAY beyond simple narcissism and having absolutely not a single means to any of his “ends”, to our problems.

The biggest threat we face isn’t just the “politics”, it’s the biological and social impacts of stupidity and ignorance, praised by such as “Libsmasher” and other “conservatives” who want not to avoid change, but want to return to previous decades, and totalitarian regimes, with such as apartheid and gulags, not just Fascist dreams.

^LIbsmasher; read George Will’s column this morning, the uber conservative Will even recognizes how dangerous the extremism, and frankly insanity, of following Trump’s weed-strewn garden path, is.

^Except Israel is the only one in the Middle East with nukes. Pakistan and India, deeper into Asia, have them, and that is a lot scarier than Iran POTENTIALLY getting them.

Militarized police, Zika virus and guns. This is a picture of everything the congress won’t take care of. Do you think the Republicans will ever care about this country?

Just a note on mosquito vectored disease: I had three malaria attacks a year apart after coming back from ‘Nam, yes I DID take the prophylaxis pills, but they don’t always work. But, the doctors pointed out that I still have the parasite, and that a recurrence of falciparum is possible in your fifties or later. In my 70’s now, and haven’t been hit again, but would not like the thought of having another attack at this time. Malaria is a “B-buster”, and miserable, even with treatment.

“If you want something to be afraid of…”I know. …ask a Republican! They have more than they can even remember to be afraid of, and they’ll gladly share with you. Or should I say “they’ll Sharia with you”? Ho ho! It’s a Republican joke.

The GOP is like an LP on a turntable with no spindle. Even if it starts off balanced, it doesn’t stay that way long.

Republicans are the party of prudence, of responsibility, or long-range planning, so they have no patience for this “medicine” and “science” mumbo-jumbo! Leave that to the pointy heads. Your GOP is very busy right now, whizzing in the water supply and eating all the seed corn.
