    For those of you who don’t recognize what Pee-Wee’s holding, it’s a stereoscope, which was popular around the turn of the LAST century.

    The 1950s toy “View-Master” was an updated stereoscope.

    It’s a good day for me when nobody calls it a stereopticon. View-Master was older than the 50s, but if I open a tab to look up the date, it’ll take five minutes to open, and I’m not up to that today.

    An interesting phase of sex education for me came when I happened upon my dad’s collection of stereoscopic photos. In his defense, they were in a tattered envelope under a bunch of long-forgotten souvenirs from his Navy days in WWII. Apparently, I inherited his appreciation for the female form.

    That stereoscope looks somewhat like today’s VR head gear—and VR will someday replace modern TV.

    Yep, back when the TV was a new invention. Hard to imagine.

    Fritzi must have had some money, that was a pretty big screen for 1949.
