If everything said in the first three panels is true, then it needs to be built & America is probably the only place they could pull something like that off. It’s 1431, bring on the Renaissance.
Lob bunkerbusters into the heart of Mecca & Medina then build churches, synagogues, pork stores, liquor stores & strip clubs where their mosques once stood. As a sign of bridge building of course.
While there are thousands of mosques in the formerly Judeo-Cristian world, there are but a few remnants of judeo-Christian houses of worship in the Islam conquered lands.
In Istanbul, AKA Constantinople, for example, there is only one church that has not been converted into a mosque - it is a magnificent 6th century structure, being used for storage, and is off limits - we were chased out as we wondered onto the hidden shrine … .
Why is it that some Americans will defend anyone except for their own country and their fellow citizens? Why is radical Islam so much more acceptable to them then their own freedoms?
This is not radical Islam by ANY definition. For some very good observations on this, and how this right-wing anti-American trumped-up non-issue is actually, measurably, hurting America, check out Frank Rich:
And yes, his argument is backed up by solid reasoning and facts. I have yet to hear a single cogent argument by those opposed to the Islamic Center. No, Rauf is not a radical. Not a member of the Muslim brotherhood. This is not a terrorist recruitment center. It’s not at ground zero. It’s private property no one else wants. And yes. it’s a prayer room, not a mosque. There is a technical, factual difference.
Anyone can have their own opinions, but they can’t have their own facts.
It is insensitive to build a center based on the same religion that the terrorists who destroyed that area are based on. Wether it is actually a symbol of victory for Islam is debatable, but the feeling that it is a slap in the face to a lot of 9/11 family members is not. Is that “cogent” enough for you?
imam rauf In July 2010, journalist Andrew McCarthy revealed that What’s Right with Islam was originally published in Malaysia under a different title: A Call to Prayer from the World Trade Center Rubble: Islamic Dawa in the Heart of America Post-9/11. What’s Right with Islam was a “special, non-commercial edition” of the book and was produced after the original, with Feisal’s cooperation, by the Islamic Society of North America and the International Institute of Islamic Thought. Both of those organizations are American tentacles of the Muslim Brotherhood. -no he is not radical he is mainstream
@ warriorwaynorth - strangely, I think the response from New Yorkers themselves wasn’t nearly as negative. Didn’t this project receive the support, or at least approval, of various groups? It was not unveiled this month, after all. Many New Yorkers knew about it, and in Manhatten itself there was considerable support for the project as well.
Personally, I think moving the site (if it’s possible) would be a commendable gesture, but I still think the controversy about the centre was artificially fanned.
The Right turned what was left of the Constitution into toilet paper in the Bush years. They want a dictatorship and to round up everyone they hate and kill or cleanse the country of them. Blacks, Muslims, Jews (though not Israelis who are part of the dictator class), Hispanics, and liberals, i.e. about half the country. Then having set up an ethnically pure police state resembling Nazi Germany they will enjoy their freedoms ans send their legions out to mold the world into their image.
I am not sure how they will pay for it since they bleed the Blue States dry with their welfare demands.
Left wing tolerance endorses flag burning as political speech. Would the same left wingers support the perogative of the victims of 9/11 to celebrate this Islamic edifice by dunking a Quran in porcine urine and feces?

If I was speaking only to them, I’d say “Why build it there?” but I know Foxnews-fed rednecks won’t allow them to build anywhere else anyway.
