I built my furniture. But my first project was a shelf that was sort of horseshoed shaped if you looked from above. It took a lot of practice to finally come up with good stuff. I also built a gazebo. If you’re patient and plan, you can do stuff like that. But don’t be surprised by the mistakes. The trouble with DIY is you don’t know what you’re doing till it is done.

I think Adam’s worse, but I almost always envision, and start, projects that are beyond my abilities.

Adam has been binge watching all the “Home Improvemen” shows for tool handling tips from Tim Taylor … So, what can possibly go wrong?

Adam with a bowler and a handlebar moustache? I’m thinking along the lines of somebody who works at Shakey’s Pizza (are they still in business?), or maybe a curator guy at the Ice Cream Shoppe at the Biltmore, or maybe, just maybe, as the Clown in a Barbershop Quartet.

When I had finished one of my projects I realized there were six different ways I could have put it together and got away with it, and one way that would have been a disaster. Guess which way I had gone!
