Wrong again ANandy, the republicans are enlisting the major corporations to hold off on hiring as much as possible. For them it is a win-win. High profits, low expenses, big paychecks for CEO and Obama “loses”. Who could ask for more? Oh Yeah, the rest of this great country.
People on both sides of the aisle need to realize that the current economic situation is the fault of both parties. It was a combination of various policies, rulings, etc that led to this current situation coming to pass.
“This time Milo had gone too far. Bombing his own men and planes was more than even the most phlegmatic observer could stomach, and it looked like the end for him. … Milo was all washed up until he opened his books to the public and disclosed the tremendous profit he had made.
Conservatives are wrong again, business is (as it should be) in business to do what is best for business and is not in the business of doing things because it helps the nation.
The Los Angeles Times has a front page story (don.lee@latimes.com) about how, despite recording strong profits and accumulating billions in cash, corpations and companies are not increasing their hiring, instead they are spending on new equipment and taking other steps, such as getting more work out of their current labor force, to increase their productivity.
In the past, when coming out of a recession, business spent on both equipment and increase manpower, but now they are spending mostly on equipment, and some are even laying more people off to cut costs.
Conservatives have been screaming that Government should give (thru tax cuts and credits) to business as only business can create jobs, but the truth is that (as it should be) the first concern of business is make a profit and not doing things to reduce unemployement.
This is why it is so important for Government to get involved or the recession will turn into a depression.
Let’s try that LA Times story again, rather than email the byliner…
Maybe it’s past time for the Bureau of Labor Statistics to get back to actually counting the out-of-work, reversing the Reagan NewSpeak that drops them after a certain period. Then we could actually know where we are, and how much needs done.
I was laid-off in November ‘04, and have had a few little one- or two-month gigs that didn’t even qualify for more unemployment. At five years, I declared retirement. Now on Medicare, I’m noticing dental would help too…
Good lord, Ken, if you came as less of a flaming liberel, maybe, just maybe, some of your comment could be considerable. Towards the middle, son thats a good boy.Get a treat when you get sensible.

Can you name three DJI corporations that are being managed by a republican?
The fact is that 0bama and the Democrats are penalizing job creators, while rewarding unions and other economic parasites …

rush09 got it backward, the coprorations hired the Republicans, in much the same way that unions hired the Democrats.

If the invisible hand of the market was so mighty, we couldn’t blame Obama for the mess, he wouldn’t have any power on it.
