either way, Baldo can’t get the idea of an upset Mr. Rod out of his head

On my very first job when I came up short, it was taken out of my salary. No big deal, except to me. I’m sure that’s what will happen here too.

I can’t help think that maybe Mr. Rod “borrowed” the money from the register to purchase something he needed. He does own the shop.

I think Baldo is being set up for a new job somewhere else.

I agree with Needachuckle. Back in the day, I worked at an A&W drive in and it had only one register. Nowadays, there’s plenty of registers and each employee is assigned a number for the transactions he/she does during the shift. Gotta think Mr. Rod has this system, so it should be easy to see who created the “error” ?

I think Mr. Rod took it also. He doesn’t care that the employee will be worried about it.

One time several years ago I ‘helped’ a young cashier to have a $19 shortage in her register. I bought 0ne item that cam to just under a buck (told you it was a few years ago). I handed the cashier a $1 bill. The entire time I was at the register the little airhead never once acknowledged my presence, spending the entire time regaling another cashier about her sexual exploits the night before. She handed me back change for a $20. I held the extra nineteen bucks a few moments, waiting to see if Ditzy would notice. Then I shrugged and walked out the store. Her loss, my gain!
