The chart also shows the status of the Middle Class since the 80’s.

Of course! The function of MM is to do for the Upper Echelon what the UE considers infra dignitatem!

One day I aspire to middle management. It’s has just enough of the prestige of managing someone yet no responsibility for actually running the company. It’s kind of like being Vice President, only you still have to do something.

Denying the existence of facts that you don’t like is certainly one of the functions of Middle Management, but it has been adopted by many other people.

You guys ever read the comments on news stories? The inmates run the asylum. Facts? We don’t need no stinkin’ facts! Regardless of the actual topic, regardless even of what’s in the actual news story, the conservatives and anti-Obama contingent are reading the liberals out of the human race, and vice versa; same with the atheists and fundamentalists. Being factually corrected just fans the flames. (And these people also vote, heaven help us all.)

I prefer being here. The conversations may be spirited, but at least they don’t go completely over the cliff, and we know we’re among friends.

Mr. Houck,,, I like your question. We need a study to find out.

Whoops! His fingers are stuck from the vacuum.

I work for a very top-heavy organization. Recently we had a new CEO come in, and after a month on the job, he shunted middle managers to new divisions to reduce micromanagement and fired some really dumb directors who had been hanging on for YEARS under the old management. They were colossal feckups, their jobs were redundant and a waste of salary, and nobody under them was sorry to see them go.

I thought lovable CEOs were something that only happened to Ford.

SCAATY, I really appreciate your “vice versa.” So many of the arguments from one “side” against the other are identical except for their target. Covering the ears, indeed! “I can’t hear a word you’re saying; you sound so much like me.”

Middle management ain’t all that fun. The people under you blame you for all the decisions/screw ups of management, (the results of which you have to deliver) and management blames you for the performance of your employees…..rip saw….
