A sizable portion of the population is looking for easy/simple answers to questions/things that make them uneasy and insecure. They are unable or too lazy (or both) to inform themselves knowledgeably of the state of the world as it relates to them. They want someone to give them simple directions so they can be reassured that everything will be fine if they just follow directions. Whether or not it is accurate is not really important to them. What they have is the desire to turn their responsibilities over to someone they can trust to make life uncomplicated and comfortable. Its’ always easy to blame someone/thing else for their problems. Simple answers to complex problems. The sheep want protection from wolves.
