If you only look at the first panel, you’ve seen it all, since the next two are the same. This is the new normal for these lazy artists – just copy and paste the artwork across. Garfield is among the worst for this. There are still many good comic artists out there that don’t do this, like Wyatt, Frazz, and Monty for examples. I appreciate their artwork and that they don’t cheapen their strips by copying and pasting panels like what we see above. Jim Davis – or whoever is doing Garfield today – should hang it up if this is all they’re going to do.

But – the whole point of Garfield is that he doesn’t get around much, doesn’t do much. doesn’t move much. He’s getting quite elderly for a cat. Elderly cats can sit in one place or sleep in one position for hours, believe me.

The message comes from what he’s thinking.

Jim Davis still does the artwork for this strip. He also this year provided panels for a crossover with the resurrected Bloom County (in which he misspelled Vader) providing the idea that Garfield is Bill the Cat’s father.

The Queen was quoted in Reader’s Digest. Handle it.
