To paraphrase Arnaud Amalric: “Kill them all and let God sort them out”. Who remembers he was a Cistercian abbot talking about fellow Christians?

The more we hope for change the more things remain the same. Or, get worse.

The congress could actually make a stand on ISIS. Declare war, authorize actions, etc. They bitch about Obama being weak but they have not done anything except shut down the government and investigate somebody.

And yet people still wonder, why don’t Democrats come out and vote? I do, but I can’t get enthusiastic about it when it’s almost always a bogus choice, as the Democrats chase after the Republicans with their fascistic tendencies.I do feel encouraged by Sanders. We just need another 535 like him.

NSA can no longer divulge any information it illegally obtained. That is why the FBI had to go to phone companies to get records of the San Beradino shooters.

tw, thanks for this nice compact comprehensive look at a lot of history. It is a mix of facts and what look to me to be well – reasoned opinions.I learned some things today.

We have faced and defeated fanaticism before. Philippines during the Moro insurrection. Moros hopped up on drugs so high on suicide charges that we had to stop using the .38 pistol and go to the .45 ACP to stop them. And Japan – WWII. Kamikaze, banzai charges, no surrender with men chained to their weapons, human torpedoes, what have you.

We just have to go with total war instead of this current version of pitty-pat and drone strikes.

As always in American warfare, it is the politicians who capitulate. We never lost a battle in Vietnam. We had our political butts handed to us. The politicians sold out the sacrifice of the troops. Pretty much every war since WWII has been a waste of men, money and assets. A waste because of gutless politicians.

There is no such thing as a moral war. Necessary, yes; just, maybe; but war is immoral.
