Trump has always been about Trump. The reason he appeals to so many conservatives is because he has no filter and he’s all about taking care of number one.

I am so tired of this type of logical fallacy that tries to discredit a person’s current position on the basis of an ancient position held 10, 15, or 20 years in the past. The critic denies the person the right to change their mind.I would hope people change their mind on subjects as they mature, learn more, and ponder the subject.

Ronald Reagan moved from being a Dem to a Rep.Norma McCorvey (the Roe in Roe v Wade) is now Roman Catholic and active in pro-life movement.

It would be a sure bet that every critic who uses this ancient v modern comparison to discredit someone likewise has opinions that have changed over time and that they would be embarrassed to reveal.

It is actually quite reasonable to believe in universal healthcare AND believe that ObamaCare is a disaster. ObamaCare is NOT universal healthcare; it doesn’t provide coverage to everyone, nor does it make coverage more affordable for the vast majority of people. …A lot of people had high expectations for Obama early on, and believed that he was doing a good job. The same is true for a lot of presidents.…People can change their opinions on issues over the course of 15 years. …Plenty of people believe in taxing the rich and yet do their best to pay the minimum possible on their own taxes. John Kerry docked his yacht in another state to avoid paying taxes, for example.

@Vickimfox – Well said. I was thinking the exact same thing.

There will be pundits that focus on how he has changed his position but he can use that to his advantage by then talking about what changed his mind.

There are plenty out there that want to discredit Trump (on both sides of the political spectrum) and I hope he continues to force both sides to deal with him.

Probably the only thing that changes any politician’s mind is whatever will get them the most votes. What comes out of their mouths may or any not intricate what is in their heds.

@Night-Gaunt – I never said he was a good man but I think he makes a good candidate and he’s demonstrating a thoughtfulness and resiliency that I didn’t anticipate.

I don’t know anything about David Kay but I did look up his questions. I assume he’s a michael moore wannabe which means what he has to say is unimportant to me and I do not hear them.

I don’t necessarily want Trump but I want a candidate like him who is not a part of the political machine because I’m tired of what the Republicans are doing to the country but I was tired for years of what the Democrats have done to the country.

I tired of Washington becoming more and more invasive in the lives of ordinary citizens. Many of us are doing just fine without their help and would do much better if they helped less.

I’m looking for a candidate that will reduce Washington’s influence and increase the importance of local politics and Trump sounds like one of those candidates.

There was an earlier TV show starring Trump, but he was playing a dolphin.

Sad but true. Thank you, Varvel.-Same old, same old. Politicians campaign for office by carefully saying what research shows to be what most voters want to hear. (Called “Lying”)

@disgustedamericanIf Trump paid for “research” to say what he’s bloviating about in his “campaign,” he wasted some of his money!

Basically, he’s trying to appeal to very mean-spirited people.
