I first learned this in First Grade: If a kid keeps punching you in the stomach for no good reason, put up with it for a while, then punch him back. It’s surprising how quickly he stops. He might even do a 180-degree turnabout and want to be your friend. If only this would work later in life, in personal as well as international relations.
As hot and humid as it is here in NC, I’d welcome a water balloon if I was outside. Some days, you can hardly breathe because the humidity is so high, so walking around isn’t recommended. One other thing, isn’t Pasquale in about the third grade or so? He looks like he could be as small as a 9 month old baby here. That’s always been a bother to me that the kids, who are about 7 or 8, look to be only as big as a 2 year old.
Had a kid in Junior High home room sitting right behind me who kept saying “Dirty Jew” under his breath. I took it for as long as I could. Finally, I turned around and said “I’m just as clean as you are.” Stopped him permanently.
Clem always looks like he has smoke coming out of the top of his head. My dad always told us to ignore bullies “if you don’t let them get your goat they’ll eventually pick on someone else.”
Growing up, my brother and I, 14 months apart, in high school, were the bully beaters. We stood up for the nerds and good kids. When anyone saw us two coming at them, they usually ran. The teachers looked the other way when we ‘punished’ a bully.
