Ahhh! Where is Joel? Is he still in the same cage with Rufus, or has he been transferred somewhere even more horrific?!?!?! I hope he wasn’t further punished an put in solitary! The injustice to Joel is so sad and so heinous. Even though Rufus is also unjustly imprisoned, let us not forget that it was he (Rufus) who steered Joel in this direction, much to Joel’s dismay. The circumstances for our hero, the wise sage/scholar/philosopher Joel seem to grow more and more dire. He is out of the picture today, even with the focus being on Rufus. He has been “nekked” without his pipe, which was his gentle, euphemistic way to let us know of his torment, his despair, his despondancy at the indignities he is facing. He does not have his jug, his hat, his elbow patched sports coat…. he is being forced to exist in another world, another environment, another arena not of his own making or choosing. I fear for our hero. I hope he is safe, and still of sound mind after this torture.
This warden has imprisoned Joel without benefit of trial. He has imprisoned Rufus without checking his fingerprints which would prove he is not Magnus. (Prison records would indicate that Magnus has an identical twin brother.) Either of these offenses would land HIM behind bars, or at the very least open to a very nasty lawsuit.

Even Rufus should have caught onto the fact that the guard called him “Rufus” and not “Magnus” or a convict number.
