Wish I could find an old Reader’s Digest story, which went something like this…the girl says, while they’re out for a drive, “We’ve been going out for six months now.” He doesn’t say anything, but kind of frowns. She starts panicking, thinking she’s been too forward and starts analyzing what she thinks he’s thinking about their relationship.
He’s actually thinking: “Six months….hey it was six months ago I got this transmission worked on and it’s STILL not shifting right. Those guys didn’t do a very good job.”
My husband assures me that most of time he looks deep in thought, he really is just thinking of nothing. I don’t know how men manage that. My brain is always engaged. I wish I could think of “nothing.”
