I loved having “the talk” with my girls. I took them – one at a time – to a favorite little coffee place that had a couch in a back room where we could sit in some semblance of privacy, and we talked. And yes: WE talked. It wasn’t just “me talk, you listen”.

When my father had a ‘talk’ with me all he told me was to stack my pennies flat. We had to walk some distance into the bush to have the ‘talk’ too.
