Joan: How bad IS it?
Val: You KNEW about the tie-dye in my bathroom?!
Joan: I went to check on the girls, but by the time I got there the damage was DONE!
Joan: Remember when WE used hair dye on the DOG?
Val: He needed highlights.
Some times I wonder how I raised two boys without killing one or both of them, and they weren’t really bad, just stuff like her kids are doing. There was one famous day when we made three trips to the emergency room, OneL number one son jumping on bed, Split head open on edge of headboard. Four stitches. Number two son, running in house, Cracked head open on edge of kitchen table. Three stitches Number three: Wife sliced finger to bone preparing supper. Two stitches. Doctor said he would be expecting me shourly for my sewing up. My reply has to be censored.
I’m glad Joan found a way to help Val see that her daughters were being creative. One of the best pieces of advice I heard when I was a new parent was to grab the camera before cleaning up the mess. I didn’t always remember, but wished I had pictures for those times I didn’t. I do enjoy looking at the pictures of the rascal my oldest son was - and am saving them for evidence if I need them later.
mythreesons you’ve got that right. Depends on what type of emergency for the kids though. Here little ones get burns news covers with the police. Kids sometimes taken away.
I have wished we had a camera to take pictures golden missed opportunities with our kids.

Still costs less to wash the door verses clean out a bathroom.

Y’know, in those last two panels, they look an awful lot like Holly and Alix. Those apples didn’t fall far, did they?

That’s it, Val. Remember what your childhood was like, then go hug the girls.
THEN make them clean up the mess.

Three trips to the ER in one day would now bring one visit from the police to your home.

In my 20s I heard “Mom” stories from my grandparents. And she complained about what I did?

@SillyStuff, I’ve always said this is my most favourite strip. Tho there are others that come a very close second.
