    @Leo Autodidact (from yesterday): My older daughter is 12-1/2 and a voracious reader. She’s read the Hunger Games series and recently read “I Am Malala”. Her favorite types of female heroes are ones who aren’t afraid to be feminine, but also not afraid to kick butt. I’ll research “Chicks In Chain Mail” (she’s intrigued by the title).

    Big on Star Trek. Zero interest in Star Wars.Actually less than zero. You’d have to pay ME to go see those movies.

    K.C. Fahel: I encountered that in the Mythworld role-playing game. Gender is derived from the primary (rolled) figures: high strength and size male, high constitution and dexterity female. Boys would sometimes say, “You mean we play girls?” I would just slide the character sheet of some veteran over to them. That question got rare in a hurry.

    what sucked in the last trilogy was how the main female character went from kicking butt to whining and lounging around in a negligee. sad
