    Suicides using guns is up too, but since the NRA made it illegal to keep track, we don’t know how much.

    @cdward and @mikefive:

    Although I cannot speak for either view of the Swiss system with any authority, M5 is absolutely correct when he says “Our problem is cultural.” Certainly not enough people are willing to admit to that, or at least not enough in positions of having the power to change that.

    It is sad that after thousands of years of religious faith, the basic tenets of religion are not adhered to by the societies who claim its importance.

    Still waiting for the NRA to support all those people who against police brutality. They said under oath to defend themselves from jack-booted gov’t thugs. They should be training and supplying whole minority communities on proper use of firearms. Because, they said to protect themselves from a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun. And, they should be supporting all those minority communities with stand your ground laws. Heard there is a bunch of jack-booted gov’t thugs in fairfax county, virginia .

    “You will have to pass a marksmanship test at regular intervals (or you’re gonna be spending your weekends with the military polishing up your skills).”.Therein lies the rub. Our country is divided so any mention of gun education (like it seems they have in Switzerland) would be met with a “guns are bad” wave of political correctness.

    The NRA Response to the shootings in Charleston was to announce that the Dead Pastor was to blame because he didn’t encourage everyone in his Flock to bring their guns to Bible Study..You know, Just In Case some “Good Guy With a Gun” was needed that night..Of course, we all know that if one of the Victims HAD been Armed, the Police would have sent in the SWAT Team to “Control” the situation.…

    The reason the Charleston Terrorist is Alive and In Custody is that he apparently expected the Police Arresting him to Agree with him and greet him as a Hero..And, all things considered, they Did treat him with Extraordinary Kindness for a Mass Murderer..Just Contrast that with the way Police in Ohio arrest 12 year old Black boys.Oh, wait, we can’t. They didn’t Arrest the kid. They Executed him..

    “So I think the problem is that we treat firearms way too casually. The Swiss do not. If that is cultural, so be it, but then the laws of Switzerland reflect their culture and the laws of the US ours.”That sums things up perfectly. The NRA, et al have staked out an extreme position on the Second Amendment. They see freely & easily available guns as a solution, not a problem.If, as they insist, the only part of the Second Amendment that counts, is “shall not be infringed”, then it’s time to repeal & replace…

    I love how Lefties on here sit on their IPads in the suburbs try to tell single mothers or old ladies in Chicago or Detroit at night who are just praying some thug doesn’t knock down their front door that they should sit unarmed and hope they’re not raped or killed.Very nice.
