The beginning of the end of health care in this country was the early 1980s, when insurance companies went from “we’ll take your word for knowing your job” to “we’ll tell you how to run your practice”. It was one of the slipperiest slopes you can imagine..

As to the ACA effect, my premiums went up 1% this year, after averaging a 15% annual increase all through the Bush years, so yes, it does work better for most, despite the screwups Republicans inserted to protect insurance company profits.

Medicare supplement insurance and Medicare part D premiums are set by private insurers. You are also free not to be a part of them, so why are you complaining. Republicans will not allow the government to negotiate drug prices with drug companies. You are paying for that decision.
