If Mortimer were a Terrier, then he could be a “Pit Bull in a China shop”…. – Or as a “personal shopper” sort of dog, he could have been a “Retriever”… – Or if he were assisting an accountant, he’d be a “Doberman (Penny) Pinscher”….

People don’t assume my German Shepherd Dog is a service dog. He’s not but when we do go into stores he is very well behaved.

If Mort was a blood hound he could sniff out the best deals.

Service dogs come in all shapes and sizes now. From retrievers, shepherd, rescued dogs, even toy size dogs can now be registered. There are thousands of types of issues that people have that the presents of a dog can help. Although we don’t have her registered my dog (toy poodle) helps keep my SO from having debilitating anxiety attacks. We don’t take her in places but he can at least leave the house if she’s with him, many times they sit in the car and wait for me but her favorite place to go is Pet Smart.

Americans! Won’t admit dogs, but have no problem with excrement stained urchins running loose and fingering everything.

As Monkeyhead said, service animals do come in all shapes, sizes and breeds. However, what Joe is doing above is not only dishonest, it is disrespectful to those who really do need a service dog. Faking a service dog is just plain wrong.

Okay Robb. This comic strip upset me. You’re actually advocating all it takes is a vest to make a Service Dog. My SD was trained over 2 years and we both went to class together. Service Dogs are not pets! Service Dogs are full access. Here in Florida, faking a disability is against the law as well as falsely representing a pet as a Service Dog. Also, Monkeyhead, there is no United States Registry for Service Dogs, unless you are speaking of that mundane, money making web page which actually pro-advocates situations and makes life difficult for people who do have trained SD’s. Please rethink your comic; it’s not so funny from my wheelchair perspective!

Joe’s in Uniform, no one is going to question him about the Dog. It always amazed me what I could do in Uniform without people even wondering why I was doing it.

I’m sorry for your problem, but I know someone who makes claims like that just to cause problems for others.

In my newspaper it said that he is a German SHEPARD! I thought I should report that to Joe’s mother in the comic….she would be horrified at the misspelling!! :-)
