My experience: Some medicines I were taking gave me such horrible side effects that disoriented me and even got me fired from work. The doctor insisted that I should keep taking them “until my body adjusted to them.” Because I was fired, I was unable to afford to visit that doctor and I just discontinued those medications. I got a lot better, became more employable and never, ever went back to that doctor. Now if a doctor prescribes something, I make a point of vigorously questioning about side effects and vigorously questioning its interactions with other meds. I have been a lot healthier not taking every medication doctors try to push on me.

Side effects of a couple have put me in the emergency room. What worked best was discontinued because side effects were fun.
