When the Pope accepts both global warming and evolution because of the evidence, he’s demonstrating himself to be far more of a scientist than you are.
I find this disheartening. Americans choosing to be more ignorant than the Pope is just plain dam’ wrong.
No, the pope is not a scientist, and his opinion has no more weight than would Angelina Jolie’s, Alex Rodriguez’, or Stephen King’s.The science, however, is unequivocal. We see your knee-jerk denial every time the issue is mentioned in a cartoon (kind of like exoticdoc2 and evolution; come to think of it, he denies global warming, too), but we understand that your point of view is unenlightened self-interest, not fact. There are a number of good books. I recommend Storms of Our Grandchildren by James Hansen, Hell and High Water by Joseph Romm, Six Degrees by Mark Lynas, and What’s the Worst That Could Happen? by Greg Craven.

Definitely not a Roman Catholic, but I’m starting to like Francis more every day.
