Many of your senior ctitizens retire to this peninsular state, right? Would this be the equivalent of that ancient myth tradition of putting your elderly relatives on an ice-floe? (but because of Climate Change ice-floes are probably being made redundant)

Rise the the alarm; I’m witnessing how the water level is coming up. Oh wait is going down now. Ah is coming up again. Oh no is going down. Wait, is coming up again. Oh no, again is going down. Maybe I’m standing too close to Panama and the eight meters of level difference between the oceans is affecting how the waves come and go. Now I’m so confused. Don’t rise the alarm I will look like an idiot.Does that sounds familiar?

If you live in Florida and don’t believe in climate change, please show support for your politicians by staying there, regardless of what happens. They need you, so don’t be a tree-hugger chicken and try to leave when things get moist. Besides, nobody will buy it from you by then anyway.

No, indeed, you should show support for your elected leaders, and in return, they’ll write to you from their place up north, on the high ground they bought with your campaign contributions.

I notice that of all the websites cited above, not one is from a reputable science-based site. That makes it possible for these folks to cherry-pick OPINION pieces to let them keep their heads comfortably in the sand (which is eroding because of rising sea levels). Here in Washington we’ve had small fields and a few buildings disappear. People can’t sell their houses because they have to disclose the erosion.

@motivemagusdon’t take yourself so seriously man, especially since there are a huge number of scientists who don’t take you seriously. They know that you’ll believe any theory they’ll put out in the name of science. Remember they are only theories. So far we haven’t heard of any island being under sea. A little research would indicate that the everglades have always changed, it has to do with availability of food for the wild animals, they create the changes along with hurricanes, but it’s all natural, from season to season. Ask the fishermen, the hunters, they witness those changes all the time.

Denial is a river in Africa, and a way of life for modern “conservatives” in America. Amazing that someone who lives in Florida knows nothing about his state, or the risks it faces.

BTW: that denial thing for conservatives goes WAY beyond cllimate change: with chickenhawks, crazy candidates, religious fanatics who want to kill off everyone in every other “faith”, running governments-and wars, without taxation, and a free ride for the rich on the backs of the middle class, and much, much, more.

The toon of course is a tad exaggerated, but on the plus side, note that Puget Sound and San Francisco bay are also gone, filled with silt?
