Viola: Petey Potterpoop! You're not observing Crazy Hair Day at school? Petey: Gah - Um. No. Viola: Well, if they institute Stick in the Mud Day you're all set. Noise: Gwinch gwinch gwinch
I remember dressing up for “Grub Day” in High School. But I left a book on the bus and had to go to the Junior High down the street to reclaim it! Dressed as a…
My husband remembers having “pajama day” in high school, and he is 65.
We had “bermudas day” at my high school. Getting to wear bermudas was a big deal.
When I was in school, girls had to wear dresses or skirts. Boys were required to wear long pants with belts (no jeans because they claimed the rivets scratched the wood furniture).
That was in the 60’s and I think everyone had crazy hair.

When did they invent all these silly “Days” in schools? Funny hats, pajamas, pirate-talk, whatever.
Who started it? Teachers? School administrators? The teachers unions? Talk radio hosts?
I’ll have to ask my school-teacher GF, who has a set of pajamas she reserves solely for Wear-Pajamas-to-School Day.
(None of this would have made my year in sixth grade more bearable, may Miss Graham’s evil soul writhe in hell, if there were such a place.)

Considering how little Petey’s got to work with, he didn’t do too bad.
Of course, if they ever DO institute Stick in the Mud Day, Petey will be the standard against which all others are judged.
TWO days until National Cartoonists Day!
